Privacy Policy
DraftThis policy describes the game as it is today (checked against the game on 6 November 2026) and will be checked again before Iron Sovereign goes on Google Play.
01Who we are
Iron Sovereign is a real-time strategy game for Android made by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy covers the game app and this website. If you have a question about it, use the contact button at the end of this page.
02What stays on your phone
The game has no accounts and no sign-in, and you can play it offline. It saves a few things on your phone so they are there next time:
- your settings (graphics, sound, controls, team colours and so on)
- your last battle set-up and your records (matches played and won, best results, challenges completed)
- the battle you are playing, saved every few minutes so you can carry on with CONTINUE after leaving the game
- a log of your last few sessions: how the game ran (frame rate, phone and battery temperature, memory, errors) and your battles (set-up, result, units built, orders used), to help us find slow spots and balance problems
- your answer to the SHARE DATA question
These never leave your phone unless you send a bug report yourself (see below), and we can't see them. If you answer YES to SHARE DATA, short summaries of your battles and of how the game ran are sent (see 04); the log itself stays on your phone. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in Android's settings, deletes them. Photo mode doesn't save or send anything.
03Crash reports
If the game crashes or hits an error, it sends a report so we can find and fix the problem. We use Unity Cloud Diagnostics, run by Unity Technologies, the maker of the game engine. A report holds:
- what went wrong (the error message and where in the game's code it happened)
- your phone model, Android version, the game's version and similar technical details
- a random identifier for the installation, so reports from the same phone can be grouped
It does not include your name, contacts, location, photos or anything you type. Unity handles these reports under Unity's privacy policy. We use them only to fix bugs.
Bug reports you send. The pause screen and the Settings screen have a REPORT A BUG button, and after the game closes unexpectedly it offers one at the next start. A report is a file made on your phone: what you type (if anything), a picture of the game screen, the game's log of your last three sessions, the battle you were playing, your phone model and your settings. You see it before anything happens, and it is sent only when you tap SEND and pick the app to send it with (for example your email app); it goes wherever you send it. We use reports only to find and fix bugs.
04Gameplay statistics (only if you say yes)
The game asks once whether you want to help improve it by sharing anonymous numbers about your battles and how the game runs on your phone. Nothing is sent unless you answer YES. You can change your answer any time in Settings > GAMEPLAY > SHARE DATA; turning it off stops sending at once. We use Unity Analytics, run by Unity Technologies. What is sent:
- your battles: the map, mode, your nation, the computer opponents and match settings, the result and how long it took, the units and buildings you built and lost, research done, and how often you used each order or control (counts only)
- the tutorial steps you finished or skipped and how long each took, and which menu screens you opened
- how the game ran: frame rate, how long frames took, phone and battery temperature, memory used, battery drain and the number of errors
- your settings (graphics level, HUD size, accessibility options and similar) and your phone: model, memory, screen size, Android version and the game's version
Unity adds an identifier for this installation and one for your phone (the ID Android gives this game, not the advertising ID), the time, and the country it works out from your internet connection. Nothing sent includes your name, contacts, precise location, photos or anything you type. We use these numbers only to make the game run better and to balance it (for example, which units are built most and which phones get hot). Unity handles them under Unity's privacy policy.
05Google Play
When the game is on Google Play, Google may share crash and "app not responding" statistics with us (Android vitals). These come only from people who have chosen to share usage and diagnostic data with Google, and reach us without names or contact details. Downloads and any purchases through Google Play are covered by Google's privacy policy.
06What the game does not do
- No ads and no advertising ID.
- No tracking of how you play unless you answer YES to SHARE DATA (see 04), and never across other apps or websites.
- No in-app purchases yet.
- No special Android permissions: no location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage. The game asks only for the internet, used to send crash reports and, if you said yes, gameplay statistics, and vibration, for the vibration setting.
- We never sell or share personal data.
07Coming later
Some features we plan would change what is collected. Before any of them reaches you, we will update this policy, and the game will ask you first where that's needed.
- Supporter badgePlanned: an optional purchase through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment; we only learn that a purchase was made, never your card details.
- Online multiplayerPlanned: playing against other people will need a connection to a game server.
08This website
The website sets no cookies and has no analytics or ads. Everything it shows, fonts included, comes from this website itself, so your browser doesn't contact other companies while you read it. The Units page remembers which nation you last picked in your browser's own storage; it never leaves your device. The website's host may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP address and time) for security.
09Children
The game collects no personal data from anyone, children included. If that changes, for example with online play, we will follow the rules for younger players and update this policy first.
10Your rights and changes
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK or EU GDPR), you can ask what data we hold about you and ask us to delete it. We hold no personal data ourselves; for crash reports and gameplay statistics we will help you with your request to Unity. When this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new date.
